Dress Donation Guidelines

The New York Benefit and Aid Committee for Kids, Inc. non-profit organization has a unique program called Operation Fairy Dust ® which fulfills the dreams of the community and the lives of New York City’s economically disadvantaged high school girls. Each Spring, at a spectacular giveaway event, we give our in-kind dress donations to high school seniors who benefit from a “Cinderella” dream come true complete with a dress, cosmetics and accessories to allow them to attend their Prom!

Our goal is to encourage socialization in a positive environment, inspire confidence and self-esteem, community and sisterhood within the hearts and minds of these young ladies. Please help us in our endeavors by donating gently used formal dresses.

Acceptable Donations:

* ALL SIZES are needed; 0-14 and PLUS sizes especially

* Acceptable dresses: evening & formal dresses, sweet 16 dresses, bat mitzvah dresses, bridesmaid dresses (think enchanted evening)

* Jewelry, hair accessories and evening bags (no shoes please)

* Dresses should not be older than 5 years old. Please consider they will be worn by girls ages 16-18

* Please No velvet or winter dresses, No pants suits

* Please No stained dresses or ripped dresses

*Monetary donations to help pay for the cost of storing our dress inventory year round and toward the cost of hosting our Prom Dress Giveaway Event can be made safely through Network for Good on our website www.nybacked.org
